J.Tilley

This little blogspot is being dedicated to Jacob Tilley from Young the Giant. After their supporting act for Grouplove at OAF, a couple of the Young' crew came and made the most of their last night in Australia. Having just finished their gig at Splendour, I'm sure they were quickly reaching the end of what would have to be a lengthy roll of patience for screaming fans and fainting girls.

Jacob Tilley, you graciously put up with my stalker stares, love declarations, awkward Australian TV references and my some-what-drunken claim that your music has changed my life. You probably would've preferred to just have a beer with your little glasses on your little face.

You and your music and your fellow musicians.. all beautiful.

Little Hell

DALLAS GREEN.
Little Hell, Dallas Green's third album as City and Colour, is absolutely divine.
We found each other in the dark, the first song off the album, sounds so familiar and feels like home. It's a perfect way to start. The whole album is full of Dallas Green beauty. He's got his upbeat songs offsetting the slow ones like usual and all the while he keeps us wrapped in his amazing voice and his precious guitar. I love him probably a lot more than a healthy amount.

When I saw him in April, he played us O'Sister and everyone went crazy. And by crazy I mean everyone was so captivated and didn't say a word. I remember thinking 'ohshit.. Ive never heard anything this good.. is anyone else freaking out?'.. which is probably what I thought the first time I heard Sometimes. He put it right in the middle of the album, I guess it needs cushioning from other songs because it's so amazing. I think it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

You can listen to the whole thing at Triple J or just go buy it.. definitely worth the cash! xx

The Peckish Moon

the peckish moon
The Peckish Moon

Beautiful pieces by Lisa Falzon. Some cute and delicate, others with a bit of cheek and naughtiness. It's all pretty great stuff and I'm in love with this sweet moon. I wish the moon really did snack on mountains to get him through the night. xx

Bon Iver

www.fasterlouder.com.au

Bon Iver. To be completely honest with you, I thought the man above was called Bon Iver and his band was just self-titled. But! it's not true.. the man above is Justin Vernon. I guess now I don't have to be worried of offending someone personally by pronouncing their last name wrong. Also I just found out he has the same birthday as me.. good one wiki. Oh no, I bet I'll turn into one of those annoying people who every year announce the list of famous people who share their birthday.. great. Out of all famous people though, I'm happy to have Bon Iver as mystically more connected to me.

Anyway, technicalities aside. The man makes beautiful music.

Bon Iver's next album is out this month! It's going to be awesome. Triple J has been having fun with Calgary..  the song that was released early. Apparently this new album was super tough to make.. "Somewhere along the line, I forgot how to write songs". I can imagine that would really, really suck for a musician.. in a weird way it makes me more excited for the album.. if there's one thing that can create beauty, it's pain.

If you haven't already heard Bon Iver.. please go do it. Here's Calgary for you  :)

and an article if you like reading as you listen to things

Love to all your beautiful faces xx
